After moving to Knoxville, TN in August of last year, of last year I finally got to head over to Hilton Head Island again. Not only did I get to see my good friend but I got to check out some new and old place son the island. I also got to take some photos of some of my previous clients! I loved seeing those kiddos grow up! I am going to post several of those photos at the bottom.
First I want to mention a few new places that have popped up in the last year on the island. Jarvis Creek General Store is an adorable market and hangout! They were fairly new in October, but had a decent selection of canned beers for a smaller market. They had 4 TV screens outside with adirondack chairs and picnic tables under the old oak trees with spanish moss hanging over a stage on nights with live music. They have rotating food trucks as well. I know this place will do awesome in the summer!
Another new area off Pope was the Bank. It is in an old Bank building. My only compliant is that you have to turn into the parking lot coming from a specific direction which is a pain especially when Pope is busy. They house Side Hustle Brewery now as well feature several Burnt Church Distillery cocktails on the Armory drink truck outside. The indoors and outdoors are both very spacious – but the outdoors in the real treat with huge open turfed area. It had chairs and table along with fire pits all around. I wish this place had existed when we still lived there because it would have been a regular on our rotations! I got a pizza to go, but they had several food options to choose from since it’s more than one restaurant. You definitely need to try this place out!
Two of my favorite spots are Skull Creek Boathouse and Java Burritio. These are both fabulous and have wonderful gluten free options! I went to Skull Creek Boathouse twice! The second I was there I even saw a manatee off the docks which was so VERY cool! I knew they came around the docks at times but had never seen one there or on my board. I also learned they are actually fresh water animals, but can last a long time without fresh water. (The geek in me!)
Okay now for my sweet HHI families! We did the photos at Pinckney Island which is a great place for walks, runs, and family bike rides!
This family had photos first and you can tell a difference in lighting in just 40 minutes!
40 minutes later….
