Even though planning a family trip can be harder when you and your siblings get older, especially once littles start be involved. However one thing I always notice at my group sessions is the families are already so excited to have quality photos of their crew together. Seflies and phone photos can turn amazing but there is something about letting the photographer be the one making the crazy sounds and dance moves to get your kids to smile. Not to mention faces don’t end up smooched unless it’s on purpose! This group was no exception! There outfits were on point, which I do send a style guide to help your group decide on colors and way to coordinate given the season. The parents had already promised a fabulous reward for good smiles and pushing through.
Since I work with elementary school kids all the time, I have no problem doing ridiculous things to keep children smiling or laughing. I usually can get even the shy ones to crack a smile at me. I truly enjoy trying to get your child to laugh, usually I even get the dads laughing (I actually have to tell the adults to look at the camera just as much as the kids!)
This session was another group session to one – document a special trip to the Smoky Mountains and two – provide photos for grandma and grandpa! I really love how they came together for this session and their outfits look wonderful. By the end the kids were coming up with their own poses (because who doesn’t like a feeling like a star?!?). If you are on the fence about scheduling a session in the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN – this is your sign to go ahead a book it!
