I remember when we would visit the island many years ago and we struggled to find breakfast spots for during the week. There are all types of restaurants offering Sunday brunch but not as many for the regular weekday.
Now Hilton Head Island has several fabulous bakeries and breakfast/lunch spots to not only fill your belly but also take care of your sweet tooth!
Here are three bakeries you need to check out- like seriously put these on your schedule each day!
- First up is Purple Cow! You can find this bakery on the south side of Hilton Head across from Publix on 278 coming in from the toll road. This bakery has donuts, cakes, handmade pop tarts (a personal favorite!), scones, blueberry muffins, chocolate cakes, and so much more! Kids love getting breakfast from here, and it opens at 7:00 am so you can have breakfast early before you hit the beach! During the busy summer months donut orders need to be placed days in advance for more than 6 (they sell out fast!). I love coming here after a sunrise session and then heading to the beach – no one can watch me stuff my face with the sweets at 7:30 am, and I can walk on the beach afterwards- win-win! So you definitely need to check out the Purple Cow. (P.S. she also makes cookie kits for anything which can be a fun activity to do in the evening or for a reward after a family photo session with yours truly 😉)
2. Another place to check out is Social Bakery. They have 2 locations on Hilton Head Island, one in Shelter Cove and one on the south side by Slap Fish on William Pope Rd. Social Bakery on the south side is newer, but their selection of food is just as amazing. I had their andouille sausage and roasted vegetables quiche to go. It was fabulous and had a great savory flavor. It came with the small quiche, salad, roasted croutinis, and two little corn muffins. I was very happy with my meal! You definitely need to check it out because I will for sure be back! It has a trendy vibe making me want to grab some girlfriends to hang out there.
3. The last place I am going to mention has been on Hilton Head in Shelter Cove for a while. It has the best homemade chai tea latte! The owner does not share the recipe with anyone! The breakfast and lunch menu is long and full of delicious choices. I have never had a bad meal there! You can get something from the bakery or sit down and hang for a bit! After you finish you can walk around the shops in Shelter Cove or let your little ones play on the playground across the street!
